Stainless steel is an excellent substitute for plastic containers. Often used as food storage the non-porous, non-tarnishing material has taken the world by storm. Using it is not only convenient but also sustainable and hygienic.
A lid, also known as a cover, is part of a container, and serves as the closure or seal, usually one that completely closes the object. Lids can be placed on small containers such as tubs as well as larger lids for open-head pails and drums. Open containers invite animals to eat garbage and contribute to littering. Closed lids keep flies out.
The downside to stainless steel containers is that they’re not transparent, so you can’t see what’s inside. Another con is that unlike glass and some plastic, stainless steel containers cannot go in the microwave or oven.
